Parenting comes with many joys, but can be a confusing, frustrating, and overwhelming experience at times. I work with parents by helping them better understand the purpose behind children’s challenging behaviors. I also provide specific tools for effectively managing those behaviors, and strengthening the parent-child bond. Anytime I am seeing a child or teen in therapy, I will also bring in the parents for regular consult sessions; however, I am also happy to work with parents alone, without involving the kids in therapy at all.
I am trained in two parenting interventions: Child-Parent Relationship Therapy, and Positive Discipline, and I provide training in both group and individual formats for a variety of issues, including (but not limited to):
- Responding to tantrums/anger (I also have an online parent course, which you can find here)
- Communication
- Discipline strategies
- Increasing kids’ independence and responsibility
- Limit-setting
- Improving parent-child relationship
- Power struggles
