Parents

Parenting comes with many joys, but can be a confusing, frustrating, and overwhelming experience at times. I work alongside parents to better understand the “why” behind challenging behaviors and provide mindful, effective tools that reduce power struggles, support development, and strengthen the parent-child relationship. As a parent myself, I know how easy it is to doubt yourself, and my goal is to help you feel more confident and trusting of your own parenting intuition.

Anytime I am seeing a child or teen in therapy, I will also bring in the parents for regular consult sessions; however, I am also happy to work with parents alone, without involving the kids in therapy at all. I am trained in two parenting interventions: Child-Parent Relationship Therapy, and Positive Discipline, and I provide training in both group and individual formats for a variety of issues, including (but not limited to):

  • Responding to tantrums/anger
  • Communication
  • Discipline strategies
  • Increasing kids’ independence and responsibility
  • Limit-setting
  • Improving parent-child relationship

I also have a free mental health and parenting newsletter! Visit this page to subscribe or learn more about it.
